Danish silhouette artist, Else Hasselriis (1878-1952) who worked for the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Company, came from a family of artist/illustators. Some of her silhouettes, representing tales by Hans Christian Anderson, were used for a series of plates by the RCPC.

She is known for her work with classics such as The Nutcracker of Nuremberg (Alexandre Dumas), Shen of the Sea (Arthur Bowie Chrisman), The Princess and the Pea and The Tinderbox (Hans Christian Andersen).
