Arthur Rackham was best known for his silhouette style in tales such as Rip Van Winkle, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. He was regarded as one of the leading illustrators of the ‘Golden Age’ of British book illustration of circa 1900 to 1915. He expanded the use of silhouette cuts in his illustration work during the post-World War I era.
